Part of the remit of Yeats Day is to include local students and encourage an appreciation among them of the legacy of the Yeats family. The young children are asked to be inspired by the lyrical poem White Birds and their competition is generously sponsored by Easons Sligo and run by Primary Colours.

Older children are asked to write a poem inspired by September 1913 to honour the centenary of the poem and this competition is sponsored by Poetry Ireland.

This year, we are launching the LilyLolly Craftfest to honour the work of WB Yeats sisters Susan and Elizabeth who made an enormous creative contribution to print and craft. Two competitions - in print and embroidery are sponsored by IT Sligo and St Angela's College.

All the competitions are run in conjunction with Sligo Education Centre.

The closing date for all competitions is May 10.
